Spiros couldn't come for Independence Day, since it was on a week day but I made the best of it. For once, I didn't read from the Memoirs of General Makriyannis or from the Wikipedia entry on The War, but I spent some time outside, listened to patriotic music and tried to eat something nice and Hellenic. Unfortunately, I chose bamies, a type of beans... I think they're called string beans in english. Anyway, they were way! too salty and just not my thing at all, since I've never liked those kinds of beans. I should've eaten the fasolada or grabbed the emam baldi after, but sadly, I took fried chicken instead. Ah well, I did have tsai to vounou and some great cheese. lol Saturday of that week was a wonderful treat. Mom, Joanie and I went to Perkins, a local diner, where I ordered their fantastic pancakes. Annie, the waitress whom my parents like, wasn't there but another woman was and I liked her alot. From there, we went shopping. We went to Sams Club and walked around for quite awhile. I didn't buy much but enjoyed getting out of the house. a woman was selling Ax deodorant, and since I'd tried a sample a long time ago and liked it, I decided to get some. So I got three cans of body mist plus a large stick of deodorant for only $10. They came in a set. Then, I tried this delicious rice with chicken that they had. It was so so good! They also had Polish sausage there but it was a bit too salty for my taste. But, needless to say, I got their chicken. I love store-made chicken and their's is really big, and from what we've heard, it's organic. I found a really nice memory foam pillow there and got it. It matches the one that I already had. At least now my honey and I can both sleep on decent pillows. He was getting headaches with the other one and of course, I could never allow that, so I kept giving him mine whenever he'd come over. after Sams, we went to a junk store called jambros, where I got another memory foam pillow. It was less expensive...
