*I love this house. Its taking some adjusting, since its pretty much new whereas before we lived in an 85 year old house. They just don't make them like that anymore. The new materials houses are made out of now are just different-thinner and more lightweight-so we hear much different sounds in a newer house. We have a ton of space. *One of Shaw's coworkers told him that he looked up or figured out somehow that January 17 is the coldest on average here and after that it gets warmer-like in the 60s. Its been near 50 and sunny most days, so walking has been a joy. However, it has been chilly in the mornings so far. I LOVE the lack of snow. A person in a shop told us that it gets bad snows about every 7 years, though I'm sure "bad snow" is up for interpretation here. LOL. *Still waiting back for insurance on the car. I think the poor adjuster has to travel from somewhere in civilization to where my car is. However, Microsoft is really doing a great thing with our relocation benefits-we are getting the rental car paid for for 15 days-so that's a load off. I'm having the car shipped down here because I seriously doubt that ThemTharHills, KY has any body shops I'm not going to have to wait eons for parts for my foreign car. In fact, Farmer's Insurance and the tow truck driver pretty much told me that. *So far I really love the area. The access to a wide variety of shops like Trader Joe's is going to keep us well-fed and healthy. The ability to exercise easily all year round is good for me and Ike. The friendliness of everyone I interact with is pretty amazing. Everyone wants to tell us what to try and where to go as soon as we tell them we are new to the area. We had a sales guy at Macy's tell us all about going to try Virginia wines for a weekend trip and what the best wine store in this area is (Total Wines).

What should I expect to pay for a one day truck/van rental in Northern Virginia? 100 miles roundtrip.?
