Nissan extends trade-in offer in British Cash-for-Clunkers program
The UK has been running a program similar to the American Cash-for-Clunkers program known as the Scrappage Scheme. That program is about to end, but Nissan has decided to extend the offer. They just announced a plan to offer a £2,000 credit for any UK-built Nissan that is at least seven years old, good towards the purchase of a new Nissan.
According to the full press release that you’ll find below, New Nissans eligible for the improved offer, which will commence on 1 April and run until 30 June 2010, include the Micra, Note, Qashqai or Qashqai+2, all of which are produced at Nissan’s Sunderland Plant. To kick off the new program, Nissan built a special 36-foot-long vehicle out of scrapped car parts. You can see the results above.

The announcement comes as the Government’s Scrappage Scheme draws to a close, and sees Nissan take the driving seat in the campaign to further support the British automotive industry.
The British Built Trade-in Scheme guarantees a £2,000 minimum trade-in against any new British built Nissan for trade-in vehicles over 7 years old – previously the offer only applied to models aged 8-10 years old.
